- Explain characteristics of two common types of academic research paper (argumentative and analytical) in terms of their purpose and approach to using sources.
- List various structural patterns (common analytical designs) that can be used in an analytical research paper.
- Determine the type of research paper they will be writing based on the writing prompt.
- Brainstorm the possible two topics and identify causes and effects of each topic.
