1.5 Writing Intros and Conclusions

Today’s lesson will be about:

Objectives
You will be able to:
  • Review three essential parts of a general introductory paragraph (e.g. hook, background information, thesis statement).
  • Write an argumentative style introduction that includes an overview of different views on the topic as well as the three essential components above.
  • Review three essential parts of a general conclusion paragraph (e.g. restatement of thesis with summary of main points, topic expansion, and final clincher).
  • Write an argumentative style conclusion paragraph that includes a call for an action by stating benefits (or consequences) of following (or not following) the thesis statement (premise) as part of the final clincher.
