1.6 Avoid Plagiarism

  • Review three essential parts of a general conclusion paragraph (e.g. restatement of thesis with summary of main points, topic expansion, and final clincher).
  • Understand the definition of plagiarism and the importance of avoiding it in academic writing.
  • Recognize the different kinds of plagiarism.
  • Understand the distinction between what needs to be cited and what does not need to be cited.
  • Recognize plagiarism in academic writing and correct it.
